What made us difficult was TV demands after getting burned by the MTN and
thinking we were in a power spot for negotiation due to the defections of Neb, CU, A&M and Mizzou.

Everyone's story (including Holmoe's) has changed now they they see how ridiculous it is that we made such an issue about re-broadcast rights, to the point that the negotiations never got off the ground. There were quotes from officials back then about "re-broadcast" rights and how important that is to the BYU fanbase (I still don't understand this. I mean it is not 1982 anymore. Everyone has cable or Sat and a DVR and if they don't, sports just are not that important to them).

None of them want to admit that this is what shut if down before it got started but I think it is the most likely explanation based on quotes in articles back at that time.
