fat as in take a huge divot or fat as in club bounces behind and into the ball?
If you are taking a steep divot, widen the stance a tiny bit (I know that sounds counter intuitive), experiment with dropping your right shoulder a little when you address the ball and flatten out your swing plane. To do that last bit, try a wider arc when taking the club back before hinging the wrists. It worked for me.
