My ASU football season ticket experience
When I went to grad school at ASU, we got very good deals on season tickets (because obviously they are hoping that grad students will make a lot of money and donate to the athletic department). We were in the upper bowl, but it was the second row at about the 30 yard line so they were pretty good seats. I love college football and so was very much hoping to make ASU my second favorite college football team (then I could have an excuse to get season tickets and see games on a regular basis every year).

Unfortunately, ASU's fans made sure that this did not happen. They put us right in front of 2 frats (I don't know if it was frat seating or just everyone in the 2 frats got tickets together). A surprising number paid little attention to the game, even when it was a good game. Many of them were already inebriated and causing trouble (there were at least 3 fights - 1 was a brawl - I can remember off the top of my head in the frat section). The people around us were loud and obnoxious and woefully ignorant of the rules of the game (and made sure that everyone within 5 rows heard every embarrassingly wrong rule they said). Its possible that I just got REALLY unlucky, but even the non-frats around us were either obnoxious or not even paying attention to the game.

About halfway through the season, I found myself internally rooting against ASU because of how obnoxious the fans were. We may not have SEC fans at BYU, but it made me realize that I can never replace my preference for BYU, regardless of whether we are sucking it up bad or not.
