I wonder how the gay community / gay activists might attack BYU over the Church's anti-gay marriage stand. There are many ways we could imagine. I wonder if one of those ways is to pressure accreditation organizations to essentially de-certify BYU as an accredited university. Seems hard to imagine I know but if gay marriage is the law of the land and BYU does not allow gay married couples to attend BYU (note: gays are allowed to attend but not practicing homosexuals and a married couple would be considered "practicing"), that could be seen as very discriminatory. And why should a university that discriminates be accredited? Am I crazy?
And if this were to happen, BYU would lose its prestige. It would turn into a giant BYU-I (no offense) that produces a lot of degrees but does not attract elite LDS kids who want to go to graduate school for example. Because graduate schools aren't going to allow undergrad students from unaccredited institutions.
SORRY IF THIS BELONGED IN ANOTHER CATEGORY. TO ME IT'S ABOUT BYU, NOT GAY MARRIAGE PER SE
