The church has supported legal opposition to gay marriage. Here we see that as a defensive measure, but the gay movement would see it as an attack.

IMO De-escalation, detente, would make more sense. I'm not sure Christ would have wanted to escalate a 'culture war'.

The issue of Tax-exempt status is another thing. If you want to avoid that, divesting yourself of malls and ranches and giving money to the poor might be more consistent with your written ethos.
