Slides to 35 inches. Likewise inner button holds sleeve up to 34 inches. Cheaper to manufacture one shirt for 2 different sleeve lengths. That over arm underarm answer you got us wrong.

Why do some shirts have two numbers for sleeve length (e.g.., 17-34/35)?

34/35 means 34 inner seam and 35 outer seam. 17 is neck size.

Exactly. A 34/35 sleeve length shirt actually has a sleeve that is 34.5 inches
