If can afford to get exact neck AND sleeve the shirt will look perfect. You won't see two buttons on an exact to measure sleeve.

Why do some shirts have two numbers for sleeve length (e.g.., 17-34/35)?

34/35 means 34 inner seam and 35 outer seam. 17 is neck size.

35 means by buttoning the outer button on the cuff the sleeve slides

I'm definitely a 17.5 neck, but I'm like 35.5 on the sleeve.

Exactly. A 34/35 sleeve length shirt actually has a sleeve that is 34.5 inches
