You sound like you were a BYU fan at one point and then chose to be offended by the very small minority of people on campus that came across as arrogant or self righteous.

Most people looking to find offense can find it. When I step in RES for a holy war game, I know I can find Jospeh Smith jokes, anti-Mormon jokes, etc. But when I consciously don't seek them out or choose to focus my attention else where, it's not as big of a deal since I tend to believe most ute fans in the stadium are indeed normal fans cheering on their team.

Now liken that to your experience on BYU's campus. If you're looking for someone to make a self righteous comment, you'll surely find it. But the majority are normal people trying to get an education and enjoy their time in college.
