Monson can be an idiot
but you either didn't pay attention to what he wrote or you're purposefully being dense. Davies situation was a private issue, most honor code issues are. Just like Monson said, those issues should be kept in house and dealt with between Davies et al. and BYU. Nobody needs to know whether someone is sleeping with his girlfriend, or drinking alcohol when above the age of 21, or wearing an earring or whatever else, it's none of our business.

The Miami Beach Brawl is completely different. It was not private, it was public. 1.3 million people tuned in, it was a football related incident not a private transgression against a religious standard. But when the transgression is public, like the brawl or Hatfield or Takitaki or Blechen or etc..... Then I tend to agree with Monson that the discipline should be made public.
