Chad Lewis Punched a Ute Player (no suspension) Led to My Most Famous BYU Moment
Back in 1993 I had season tickets to BYU. Utah came in and in the last seconds kicked a game winning 55 yard field goal. Sitting in the crowd, I was dismayed as Utah players started celebrating like crazy and tried tearing down our goal posts (hello football team!). A group of us fans were mad and actually came onto the field (no clue what I was thinking). Just as I reached the field, Chad Lewis punched a Utah player which started a fight. All of the Utah players in the North end zone trying to take down the goal posts ran to join the fight allowing a small group of us fans to surround the goal post.

The fight died down relatively quickly and Utah players continued celebrating like crazy. Their QB McCoy was running up and down the field with the huge "U" flag, finally stopping at the 30 yard line to have a picture taken of him with a couple other players. I walked up unnoticed, grabbed the flag, ripped it out of his hands and took off for the end zone. As I hit the 20 yard line, the fans in the stands rose to their feet giving me a standing ovation and cheering me on until I crossed the end zone, all with McCoy running after me. I did a little celebration as I hit the end zone and then jumped into the stands where I was pulled up by the BYU fans saving my life. My only regret was not taking the flag with me, but I probably would have been pummeled.

What a fun memory. I love BYU football and having lived in Omaha for 7 years I am excited for the game. Go Cougars!
