In case they become a contributor late in their career. Why not RS?
If a kid is never going to play in a given year, like a freshman walk on, and might be a spot contributor as a 5th year senior, may as well. Sometimes a kid will turn out to be like Craig Cusick or Brock Zylstra where they see the floor. In fact Zylstra's situation is similar to Beo in the sense that he was a preferred walk on that had strong HS numbers, limited athleticism, but could have played on scholly elsewhere and eventually earned one at BYU.

Not suggesting their games are similar at all...Beo appears to be a scoring point.

Goat I don't think Beo would earn one until his RS Junior year just given the fact we have 7, 7, and 8 guards already on scholarship his first 3 years and are projected to be 2 over and 1 over his 2nd and 3rd seasons: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q8d4ZieVgFIhQ5zT0M8sggpB3-yLU1-ObQkumbM5Z7Q/edit#gid=0

If Yoeli Childs signs, that issues is exacerbated.

But I could see a scenario where he redshirts next year, gets occasional minutes his first two seasons, then becomes a contributor his last 2 seasons in the "post Lone Peak" era.

I like his game from what I see on film, and will be interesting to see how much of it translates.
