South relative to out West. I simply said this may make sense based on the South having an, on average, higher population of dumb people relative to the rest of the country. Thus, coaches are more likely to be dumb, and players are more likely to be dumb. Again, I am making no comment on the intelligence of football players in the South, but if that is the OP's observation I believe studies on education levels (and other factors that support that the South is generally "dumb") might support his observations.
