My guess is that they had been telling TM to not be afraid to keep it

because there were several times that he gave the ball where the outside run would have been wide open. My guess is that TM saw an open run on the previous play (where he gave the ball) and decided he was going to keep the next one and in his nervousness didn't execute the fake well (or make a good pre-snap read, for that matter).

Just my guess.
