Let's take a look:
Passing yards allowed per game:
Cal: 249.6
Utah: 238.5
Rushing yards allowed per game:
Cal: 137.2
Utah: 134.8
Now for more defensive comparison:
Washington run yds allowed: 121.6
Washington pass yds allowed: 204.4 (Cal is bringing this stat up a lot. They had 342 passing yards)
Washington has given up only 2 passing TD's all year, both against Cal. Utah has given up 8 passing TD's.
Washington is the best defense in the PAC-12 by a long shot. Utah is not even close. Washington has stopped boise and USC's offense's which are both worlds above Utah, but they couldn't stop Cal's. So in order for utah stop cal, they'll need to play dirty.
