Jake Heaps had a great freshman year breaking Detmer's records. Did not turn out well for Jake the next year, but there were high expectations and excitement as he finished his freshman year.

In fairness, BYU rarely used to have freshman starting quarterbacks.

Very true. Only 8 freshman QBs have started a game for BYU since 1973
