I worked for a Brokerage firm based in St. Louis and spent probably a few months
total over the years. I agree w/ you that black to white, and black on black racism is very common. Except, theres a huge difference where it really matters. Every single "in your face" act of racism I saw was in public. Successful white dudes, openly and persistently hassling and belittling the black waiter, ball park employee, at a swimming pool etc. etc. Words and putdowns that most of us likely never uttered after HS. They had no recourse but to apologize, take it, and carry on. It wasn't that I saw one incident or run-in, it was how common they seemed to be. The swimming pool was very telling, to me. Me, and a VP of our co., only two white adults there. The 3 rough lookin hombres all gang tatted up and givin the stink eye to us were the people he went after for several illegitimate reasons. They hung their heads and took it for 10 min. , before taking their tunes and leaving. Frankly, I was scared they were gonna come back for this guy. They had the numbers and physicality to cave both our faces in, but they responded more w/ sadness and the body language of the abused. That's exactly why the two forms of racism are apples and oranges. I've never seen a black on white incident in public.

It's not to excuse reverse racism in any way, but if you don't recognize the natural bitterness and torment a poor black person would feel as a result of a lifetime of this, and w/ a straight face say "black to white" racism is worse, I think you may be deluding yourself and rolling w/ the "they bring it on themselves by being _______, _______, and________. I'm not trying to be a jerk and belittle your opinion, but it's an opinion I'd expect from someone whose young, white, and likely in the Mtn West or West and never had any real front row seat to the reality of the situation in parts of this country. Which of our opinion is correct? Who knows.
