You're less of a plug in a 4-3
Anyone who knows defensive schemes knows that the nose tackle in a 3-4 just takes up space. He is double-teamed on almost every play, and is part of a unit that is outnumbered every time they line up (3 vs 5, sometimes 3 vs 6).

DTs (and really, all of the defensive linemen) in a 4-3 have a greater opportunity to impact the game.
