Schools invest in players.
He may be unpaid but schools spend a lot of money on recruiting players. Collette committed to USU and they paid his way through school for a year without him playing. They then held on to his scholarship for 2 years and paid for him to go to school a 2nd year last year. He can claim that he doesn't like Duryea but Duryea has been there the entire time he's been there and also was one of the primary recruiters. The fact is, Collette needs to be careful who he talks to. I've spoken to a few of his friends and his reasons for leaving USU that he's telling them aren't the same reasons he's giving to the news sites. USU invested in him and he got a "better" offer 2 days before the season started so he bailed on them leaving an open scholarship that can't be filled this year. So sad that he's willing to throw the only school that showed him any interest out of high school under the bus.
