Last year BYU started off 4-0 with an extremely manageable schedule against teams that would have a very tough time defending Taysom.
Instead of seizing this opportunity and thinking, "Hmmm, we're 4-0 with an electric quarterback and a weak schedule. We can go undefeated if we play pretty good defense," he decided to continue to let Howell trot out an uninspired defense that didn't know their assignments.
It didn't end up mattering too much because Taysom ended up getting hurt, but it did provide pretty clear evidence that Bronco lacks urgency.
He either didn't realize the opportunity the program had, or didn't want to seize the opportunity.
