Does expansion happen? Probably.
Does BYU get in? Probably not.
Does it matter? Probably not as much as you think.
I'd like to be invited to a AQ conference as well, because BYU belongs in one. They belong in one more than at least half of the schools that are already in one. Any reasonable college sports fan knows this. I think BYU would fit best in the PAC, but that wasn't to be because of religious intolerance for our faith, and it's quite possible, that our faith could once again keep us on the outside. And frankly, if this was the reason, I would be 100% fine with it.
Can Indy work? Yes.
Can it work as well as it does for Notre Dame? I think so. BUT it would require a completely new approach by the BYU Administration, athletic program, and the fans. I believe Provo, yes, the same Provo that Fletch loved visiting, could be a can't miss location for opposing fans to visit. It isn't today, but it's because the focus and approach to the game day/week experience isn't prepared for it.
If expansion talk closes completely, I will share more thoughts around how this can happen.
Flame away, but the quicker fans lower their expectations of AQ inclusion, the happier they'll be.
