BYU is a slam dunk for the Big 12. I think the
Doubt stems from the feel of being passed up by "inferior" programs like Utah and TCU in the past.
Rather than credit or emulate what those programs were accomplishing, BYU fans presume jump to the bigotry angle.
The reality is those schools' best teams, despite the limitations of non-BCS status, were as good as any in the country. As a result they brought more money and more prestige to the best non-AQ conf.
They were P5 ready.
BYU will get in for the same reason. They are the best option and bring the most prestige, money and competitiveness.
