Fighting against new traditions is as silly as trying to manufacture them.
If it doesn't feel natural to you don't do it. If others like it, let them do it.

Arguing about the validity of a tradition is silly. The only legitimacy a tradition can have is gained by its adoption and persistence over time, regardless of its origins. We'll see what happens with the shaka.

For myself, I kind of like it, but I'm not sure I'm cool enough to do it
