chodilicus Walk-on
Not nearly fast enough for Safety
Huntsman is an intriguing guy but the reason he was a walk-on without many other offers is his limited athleticism. He doesn't have the measurables of some other guys in that size range. Sitake really likes speed and I think we will see him take the approach that TCU and Utah took for years back in the MWC days. That is, sacrifice size for speed by making CBs into Safeties, S into Linebackers, and LB into DEs. Obviously, in the middle at DT you want the big uglies and speed doesn't matter.

So, for me Huntsman is the perfect fit for DE in a 4-3 scheme. He doesn't have the speed really to play LB, even in a 3-4. However, I think he could be a monster at DE with few years to really perfect his technique. He could easily play there at 240-250 lbs and I agree that he is probably there already. Obviously, the hand skill and pass rushing technique is very different at DE but I think he can learn it quickly.

The biggest beneficiaries of moving to the new defense and 4-3 scheme will be the pass rush guys who just were not quite fast enough to play LB and be in space. Huntsman, Takitaki, Tautu and maybe Hinds are all perfect DEs in a 4-3. I personally would like to see Hinds at TE and rumors are he may end up there.
