FWIW, CSU is actually contiguous to the Big 12 footprint AND has a true P5 rival
No other non-P5 Big 12 candidate can say that, including BYU.
Houston is the only other candidate that would be contiguous to the Big 12 footprint; and BYU is the only other candidate with a true P5 rival.
AND, with the addition of CSU, it would make BYU part of the contiguous Big 12 footprint and give us a proximate conference mate - that provides a game that you can actually drive to from Provo, with whom we have a long history of conference affiliation.
It's not essential, or anything close, but I would love to see BYU and CSU join the Big 12 together.
