There are two potential reasons for them:
1. To celebrate what really is a transformational milestone for the program. This is a relatively rare occurrence in college sports.
2. To gloat in the direction of a rival that is not so lucky at that point in time.
As long as it is all about the first, I'm all for it. Yes, some Utes were guilty of the second, but where is there a similar situation today? They are in a P5 conference. Who else? USU? UVU? SUU? I just don't see it.
After a few years, I'd see it start to fade anyway and the BYU brand, now even stronger, to be celebrated for what it will be then on its own.
