Not at all true. I have been to most BYU v Utah games in SLC during the last 20 years. At times
it was dangerous. IT IS NOW A LOT BETTER than it was.

On one game, I took my 14 year old timid nephew and we were hit by the drunk 50+ year old lady behind us every time the Utes had a good play. We were timid in our cheering.

After leaving the stadium, while in a parking lot my older, disabled, brother was tackled from behind by a young drunk Ute wanting to rip my brother's BYU coat off. My brother forced the Ute to the ground and threatened the Ute to not touch him again. The Ute's girlfriend was horrified. My brother was a guest of the Utah team and sat with Ute friends and family during the game. I guarantee nothing my brother did during the game or afterwards caused that reaction.

In recent years the faithful Ute fans come to our defense. They are embarrassed by the harassment that was going on. Basically after Max Hall's comments, the crimson club members have been more vocal in protecting Cougs.

By the way, I have come home from Ute games with the smell of beer on my clothing from the Ute fans who "spilled" their beer.

MOST UTE FANS ARE GREAT. We get teased, but in fun. In the game mentioned above my nephew and I went out for hot chocolate. As we returned to our seats one of the fans shouted something like, "That better be chocolate and not coffee in those cups." He said it with a good natured smile.
