Rocky Long made this argument. He also made the argument that having older players from missions gave BYU an unfair advantage. Both arguments are equally valid, as in, pure garbage with no basis in reality.
As several posters have said at this point, which restores my faith in humanity, the myriad of teams with green uniforms never catch this complaint. Marshal and North Texas in particular match the color of their turf.
I played at Idaho State. We got curb-stomped by BSU. Nobody disappeared. The funny thing was, while on the field I was looking at the dudes on their team, who nearly all stood at least six feet tall above the surface of the field. So, while looking at the given BSU dude, I actually couldn't necessarily see the ground under his feet. To see the ground under his feet, I would have to be looking at the ground under his feet, which would make it harder for me to see the dude, which in turn would make it harder for me to see where the dude was going and what he was doing.
The blue-turf-makes-it-hard-to-see argument is not an argument that a single intelligent person has ever made while sincerely believing its veracity.
