I don't necessarily think it's an advantage because of being blue on blue.
But I definitely could see it as an advantage for the very reason that you seem to be indicating.

That bit about either seeing the players or the ground, but having a hard time seeing both at the same time. You kind of messed up your own argument that it doesn't matter.

A blue field isn't something your brain is used seeing. So I could see it messing with your brain's ability to process information quickly. It's dealing with new info, a new data point, something different. Just standing there looking around, no big deal. Weird, but easy to process. Speed things up to football speed, making quick reads and quick decisions, trying to react rather than think, and it shouldn't be hard to consider that it could be an advantage for those who are accustomed to the differences and have had the chance to adapt.

I'm not saying it's a huge unfair advantage. Who knows how much or how little effect it has. It's probably different from one person to the next. But I am saying you have to have your head in the sand to say it makes no difference at all to anyone.

With regard to green fields and green jerseys, your brain has been running around on grass for your entire life. So your brain doesn't have a problem processing information with a green grass field as a back drop. It's the norm.

For the record, I heard a BSU player interviewed a few years ago. When asked about this topic, he indicated that it took a few games to get used to the blue, and until he did it effected his play a little. Maybe he was just trying to play mind-games with any opponent listening to the interview. I got the impression he was just telling his story.
