The underlying assumption here is that Tanner is exactly the same as he was
Stop it. Tanner, last year, was a freshman that hadn't played a meaningful snap in almost 3 years!!!! He has now had an entire off-season to improve. To use last year as an indictment of him is silly.
We are 4-4 now with an absolutely terrible offense. We have 4 games left that we should win no matter who is playing. It's time to play for the future and get Tanner in there. Stop it with the Taysom Hill defense movement.
