The difference is this: If he was never going to redshirt and doesn't play a
down, then you redshirt him anyway, because it doesn't matter if he graduates early or not.
But it DOES matter if Tanner gets hit with a serious injury while looking good and misses out on a medical redshirt because he played too much and maybe he wants that extra year back for his NFL shot. Who knows?
I don't care that he took the knee, but he DID so give him some reps!!
