Even if this is true, the timing is what gets me.
Our offense was stagnant, so even if Johnny was able to get the first down, our offense would still have to drive 80 yards for a touchdown. Honestly, we probably would have ended up having to punt anyway.
But if we did the fake punt when we were around the 50 yard line, then we'd be within striking distance and we might be able to walk away with some points. Doing the fake on your own two yard line just seems like it was delaying our punt and most likely wouldnt result in points
