Someone will always end up on the bottom. I'm not sure a re-alignment to shed dead weight really makes sense. In a sports league if you eliminated the losers you'd eventually end up with no league. The criteria has to be something else: no butts in seats, ineptness, political scandal (cough), etc.

I see the attraction of a B12 team joining another league with a bigger payout. But can't see a P5 dumping its cellar-dwellers. Maybe I'm not as smart as the guys running these leagues.
