This is accurate in part.
I don't see schools getting left behind. Too much bad publicity, scheduling problems, etc.
What I DO see is unequal revenue sharing.

The comment above was made that the trend is in the opposite direction. As long as TV money is bottomless, that's true. However, if the next TV contract is smaller - you think Texas, or USC, or Ohio State, will sit back and say. "You know what, I was getting paid 50 million, I'm worth 50 million, but I'll take a cut in pay, just to play fair...

Iowa State laid it out perfectly. The bottom half of every conference knows that they are feeding off the top. If Texas and OK threatened to leave the B12 unless revenue was unequally split - you'd have all other 8 teams saying - yes please.. Even if I make as much as a G5 school, the fact I can be associated as a P5 and have games against power teams - the revenue drop is worth it, and better than nothing.

If the Pac12 told Utah they got a half share or they're out during the next negotiation of contract you'd better believe they'd accept it - and they'd be foolish not to. Affiliation and scheduling is worth the money you'd leave on the table.

Top teams get big money and consistent opponents. Lower tier teams get reasonable money, affiliation, bowl/playoff access, and scheduling.

The capitalist economy always gravitates towards being paid your value. Selfishness wins in the end. In times of overabundance "false equality" makes everyone feel good, but when belts tighten everyone looks out for their own.
