Trying thinking it through.
BYU has little or no bargaining position.

ND has almost all of the bargaining position. Holmoe is wise to be patient; things might work out on that last ND slot.

If a team with no bargaining position 'applies pressure all the time' as you suggest, that team shoots itself in the foot.

ND will simply stop returning BYU's phone calls.

Your little temper tantrum produces nothing, just fewer teams willing to schedule us.

There is a reason we have so many 2 for 1 deals. We lack bargaining position, partly because Lavell Edwards Stadium is a place where ranked teams sometimes get upset. A lot of the coaches of these teams are cowards, and will refuse to schedule a home-and-home with BYU because they want to play cupcakes.

If we don't schedule those 2 for 1 games, we may end up kissing our ESPN deal goodbye - because ESPN likes those matchups, even if they are not in Provo.

ESPN could care less what whining BYU fans want. It doesn't enter into their calculations.

To build our brand nationally, we need to play better teams and beat more of them. There is no easy way around this. And that means more 2 for 1 deals, and more unfairness. Get used to it.

If we don't continue to satisfy ESPN, all other options look worse.

If we can get more wins with these unfair 2 for 1 deals, our brand and ranking will rise. If we keep losing, ESPN is more likely to lose interest in us.

Playing these better teams is good, even on the unfair 2 for 1. At least we have national exposure, gain more top recruits, and have a chance to boost our ranking and brand.
