EVERYTHING that you just argued isn't because of Michigan
It is because of Jim Harbaugh. It was his first game back coaching college. He could have been playing at San Jose State or some other no name school and the ratings would have still been off the charts. If the Michigan team going into Salt Lake had been coached by Brady Hoke...ratings would have been mediocre at best and brought no new national recognition because people thought of Michigan as a joke for those years between Carr and Harbaugh.
