us knowing our neighbors better. We all used to sit on porches and walk around the neighborhood until things cooled off enough in the summer to go inside. Now we hardly go outside. So what's the solution? Be the only family on the block with no air conditioning or try harder to interact with our neighbors in spite of air conditioning.
Kids in high school without cell phones are more likely to be stranded somewhere without a ride, more likely to be disadvantaged socially (friend and church activities are communicated by text) and even disadvantaged academically.
My kids have teachers who incorporate cell phones into their teaching since most of the kids will be using them anyway. The kids are allowed to use the internet to look up information in class.
We tried to fight having kids have cell phones and gave up at the high school ages. It's even difficult in junior high, but it's manageable enough we're holding the line.
My wife had a series of conversations with teenagers and over 40s about scriptures on phones and who preferred what. The over 40s almost exclusively said they preferred paper scriptures because they can mark them more easily.
The surprising answer from the teens was not that they preferred scriptures on electronic devices. It was the reason why. They said it was easier to mark them on electronic devices.
