It's always been a really ignorant idea that BYU "can't recruit for 4-3." "That's not in BYU's recruiting pool." Haha seriously? I remember when this was all over the board. People assuming that BYU was only able to find LBs. Well duh that's mostly what they got. That was the type of D! If Bronco had a 4-3 he would have likely landed a few KVN's and Warners on the DL. I would guarantee there are a handful of big names who more than anything, just didn't want to be a DL in BYU's 3-4. Silly to say that with Poly linemen being a huge part of BYU's recruiting that they wouldn't be able to recruit for it. Not to mention Bronco already did. He got HS tweener DE's who were going to be LBs for him. Now they just get to play what they already were in HS. Guys like Takitaki, Tafua, etc. 4-3 is way better for BYU. Only thing I wouldn't have been confident in is Bronco consistently landing the type of corners needed to press more.
Either way, I'm excited to see it take off. And the thing is, it's not like you just all of the sudden don't get LBs. You can still get LBs to come a lot easier than you could get DL to come in a 3-4. Considering hardly any schools run it, you get the best of both worlds.
