with most of those losses coming NOT to teams rated in the high 200-300's ...
...according to KenPom. We're suffering double digit blowouts to some of the worst teams in all of D-1. Losing big in the ACC pales in comparison.

Let's face it, we're just too happy to accept mediocrity and call it awesome. As long as we can't have honest conversations we can't expect to be great. There are numerous programs who have severe limitations placed on them due to size, location, surrounding competition, lack of resources, etc and they still find ways to excel.

Look at Butler for example. It's a reeeeallllllly small private christian university smack in the middle of a lot of really big time basketball real estate. They languished in crappy conferences for years, had to beg for recruiting scraps and leftovers after bigger programs, like Indiana, Notre Dame, Ohio St, Cincinnati, Xavier, Michigan, Kentucky, Purdue, etc finished what they wanted and then had to contend for those scraps and differentiate themselves from other programs like Ball St, Valpo, Dayton, WKU, Indiana St, etc. They've built a culture with their basketball program that has been handed down now through several coaching changes in recent years, which it calls "The Butler Way". At its core, The Butler Way calls for complete commitment and exalts teamwork above self. This culture has led to two National Championship games, 3 Sweet Sixteens in the past 10 yrs and this season a 5-1 record vs top 25 competition with wins over top 10 teams like Villanova (#1 at the time), Arizona and Indiana.

I think part of the problem with Coach Rose's program is he's built a culture that very often is just the opposite, filled with selfish players who don't want to commit to giving their best every game on defense and are too often more interested in looking for their own shot above finding a better shot with an open teammate. As Paul said in his letter to the Corinthians, you reap what you sow.

Do I think it's time to fire him? No, but it's time for a shakeup I think and Holmoe needs to get him motivated to do so. It's one thing to expect to beat Gonzaga this year with a cast of freshman and sophomores but it's not unreasonable to expect NOT to lose to crappy teams by double digits, especially teams rated in the high 200-300's and do it multiple times in a season.
