My hotel was about a 6-block walk to the Blue Mosque and many of the other main historical sites.

There we speakers hung on tall polls at both the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia and the call to prayer was done as kind of a call and answer between the two monuments. It was very interesting.

I had been to Turkey 3 times in the past: in 92 with a rock band playing a USO tour for the troops in the Mediterranean around Adana and Diyarbakir, and two times to Ephesus on cruises.

I would love to go to Cappadocia, Pammukale, and also back to Istanbul. But it seems too dangerous to go right now.
