Really haven't seen anything that's made me at all nervous. That said, I have heard from my friends that there has been some unrest near Hagia Sophia and the historical sites.

But I have seen nothing and no one has been anything other than friendly. In fact, where I am I've seen virtually no signs of religious extremism or even religion other than the mosques and the call to prayer. Very few women wearing the hijab, plenty of bars, they tell me you can even eat pork in some restaurants. I feel as safe as I did in San Jose Costa Rica or Manila.
