The example thebruce gave above does not say 3/10.
If a player shoots 30%, that player shouldn't shoot 10 per game.

At 35-37% from 3, your EFG% is 52-56%. This is better than a player shooting 50% and taking all 2s, whose EFG% is 50%.

In a vacuum, one player is generating between 1.05 and 1.11PPP. The other at 1.00.

Now considering other factors, you bring up FTs and long rebounds. Saying the guy who only shoots 2s would also get to the line more is a very broad assumption. Teams needs players that can get to the line, whether those are the guys shooting 3s or not, and efficient team is one that has players who attack the rim. The 3p shooting makes this significantly easier as shooting creates spacing and driving lanes. A player like James Harden can only do what he does because of the shooting around him and the spacing created. Same with Curry, who also had the most efficient season in nba history last year while at the same time taking the most 3s in nba history.

Long rebounds should also not be considered here, as most NBA teams have adjusted by not pursuing OREB, effectively negating most transition opportunities other than TOs. Analytically, the extended possession is not worth the points given up in transition.
