The more I've thought about this the last 24 hours,
the more I think that Tanner's ultimate success will correlate with the rise of a solid go-to TE option, as opposed to development of WRs (although Trinnaman having a breakout season will really help). All the great BYU QBs seemed to have at least one really, really good TE option, and the best ones had 2.
Hall: Pitta/George
Beck: Harline/Coates
Doman: Doug Jolley
Sark: Mili/Lewis
Detmer: Chris Smith/Byron Rex
Bosco: David Mills
Young: Gordon Hudson
McMahon: Clay Brown
Most of these were All-American TEs. We just need to have an all-conference caliber option emerge. Hopefully that will be a combination of Balderee and MLP this year.
