I was a grad student interning in the ASB during this time and President Hinckley just plain didn't like the fact that 10s of millions of dollars were being raised so the boys could practice indoors. To get his approval, a certain percentage of the building's use needed to be allotted to the general student body. Once that was the case, it was only a matter of time before scheduling conflicts would happen.

The football team does get priority so they kind of need to take the blame here. Just do as Foof suggested and double schedule and while they are at it, feel free to tack on a 30 minute buffer period. Problem solved.
