Interesting comment...
Good thing you said almost every school.

Gonzaga has gotten to the point where they compete effectively for recruits against Pac Ten schools. St Mary's has established a very productive Australian pipeline. Both have excellent coaches.

BYU also gets good recruits and has decent recruiting success against schools from major conferences. The LDS Church connection helps BYU quite a bit in their recruiting. Feel that GU and SMC both have better coaching staffs than BYU.

I think the WCC has some very good coaches. A bunch are new to the conference in the past year or two, and in most cases they're upgrades from what they had before.

WCC schools need to begin winning more OOO games against major conferences. If they can do that, that will increase the RPI and other ratings for the individual schools and the conference. That's an important first step.

The teams that do get to the NCAAs need to advance beyond the 1st round. Gonzaga's run this year is great, and they are now considered a legit national power, but look how many years it took an excellent coach who was willing to stay in Spokane to get things to that level. St Mary's is slowly starting to crack the consciousness of basketball fans in general. BYU is already in the fans' consciousness, all they need to do is win something of consequence like a regular season championship, a conference tournament championship, or a couple of games in the NCAAs.

But who will be the next teams to step up and start enhancing the image and ranking of the league instead of detracting from it?
