1) The media and fan circus. Wherever Jimmer goes media and fan craziness follows. Heck, even in the D league and in China he made headlines that wound up on the home page of espn.com. A lot of teams just don't want to deal with that. Personally, I think those teams are crazy. If done right, a team could make bank off ticket, jersey, and merchandise sales. Unfortunately, teams can be stupid.
2) He is an extreme defensive liability. This one is actually kind of sad because it is something that he could, in very large part, control. He spent, what, four seasons in the NBA? I'm pretty sure at least one of his coaches from the Kings, Bulls, or Pelicans could have worked with him extensively to help him improve his D. He could have called up Gary Payton and asked him to teach him personally. (He could still do this.)
I would love for Jimmer to work out the defensive issues and find himself back in the league. I still think he can be that JJ Redick type player, and that type of player is very valuable. Redick is about to get a huge payday. We'll see what happens.
