Are you kidding me! Bronco saving BYU football.
First of all Bronco is just a football head coach. Period. In my opinion, and when you count the winnable games that he lost....an overated football head coach. Sure he was a good DC....but Sitakae was a much better DC at Utah. BYU should have had better seasons under Broncos leadership. Example, I was in the stands in Fort Worth one Thursday night when a highly ranked BYU with Austin Collie didn't show up to play. Came out of the locker room flat and unprepared to play. That is caused by coaching and ultimately Broncos responsibility. We were loaded with talent that year and underachieved dramatically. Bronco was horrible at evaluating talent and putting his best players on the field. We witnessed the RN qb saga while another qb lower on the depth chart transfered to SUU and ended up playing for the Chargers. Everytime a star player surfaced....it was due to an injury to a starter which allowed a future star to take his place. Michael Alisa injured.....Jamaal Williams replaces him. Injuries allowed Ziggy to finally start his last 4-5 games at BYU. Don't tell me Ziggy wasn't a great practice player....the Detroit Lions don't have a problem with the Pro Bowler. The BYU coaching position is a great job. Bronco just happened to be the replacement to Crowton. IMO, others could have replaced Crowton and had just as much success as Bronco. We have seen that Bronco is not exactly saving the Virgina football program. So please stop giving him credit as being this heroic mastermind that was the only one that could have carried on after Gary Crowton. BYU is a great University with a great football program which is larger than one man.
Let's not forget that. Bronco is gone....wish him the best and get over it!
