Underrated and Overrated
In 2014 Taysom Hill completed 67% of his passes and averaged over 100 rushing yards and 2 rushing TD per game. Many people forget how incredible the guy really was. They see 2016 and simply think that he was always that bad. The severely underrate Taysom's ability and potential.

On the other hand, Hill has had 4 season ending injuries. And while he bounced right back in 2013 and 2015, his game was no where near 100% in 2016. At this point we don't know if he can return his game to previous levels, and if he can, how long it will take.

His Free Agent contract was based on his incredible strength, athleticism, and his tape from 2014 and 2015. If he has returned to that level of play, he stands a chance of making a roster. Having a #3 QB who is bigger, faster, and stronger than any of your running backs and can help out on special teams may be enough to tip the scales in his favor.

No one ever wants to see a #3 QB on the field, so if a team can get some utility our of that position in some other fashion it might be tempting.
