I don't think his position is meritless.
Only because the NCAA previously agreed to accommodate BYU is he in the wrong.
In the absence of the NCAA concession, I wouldn't expect other schools to work around BYU's religious schedule.
Put another way, BYU can ask to not play on Sunday, but nobody is required to say "yes".
