I sat last night and held a P38 Luger w/Nazi war eagle my grandfather brought
home from WWII. We never knew much about his service, it wasnt until after he died that my grandmother found a box with medals, letters of commendation and some notes from his service including 1 where he received commendation for braving murderous enemy gunfire and another where he participated somehow in the capture of German soldiers. I dont know if that is where the pistol I know have came from but I hold it periodically and wonder.

He never talked about the war, but that man would stand straight as a board when the national anthem played and tears would run down his face.

Like your grandfather I know he had wounds and scars that we could never imagine.
