My Dad was a veteran of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the cold war.
The cold war was real. In the early 60's he flew over Russia out of the Aleutians and was shot at every day.
In WWII he was a Major and a squadron commander in the Air Corp at the age of 23. He flew 50 missions when the kill rate was 20%. While he was not being shot at, he was commissioned by an Apostle to be a mobile branch. Wherever he was - he was a Branch President and was told to hold a Sacrament Meeting. He did so.
